On CBS they said that Reeva Steenkamp's family feels that justice has been served.

Like you and others, I also think he should have gotten life, as I believe he knew damn well it was Reeva he was shooting at.
Reeva's life is gone. How can this be justice? Think the judge had too big of a soft spot in her heart for this killer. The facts were so plain to me. Know he has accomplished a lot in his life and what a role model he could have been. However, the man has a mean streak a mile wide. He, like so many others before him cried and lied, because he was caught; not of out of any remorse for Reeva.

At least he was sentenced; O.J. must have laughed at the world, for awhile. IMHO

VERY surprised to hear the length of sentence. But then again I don't know the CJ system there.

If he had been found guilty in America it would have been quite some time more.

The "5 year" sentence was carefully chosen by this sinister Pistorius-loving Judge. Any sentence under SA Law that is 5 years or below, becomes eligible to have it served under house arrest after 1/6th has been served. Anything over 5 years this does not count. So if all goes as planned, Pistorius could be out of prison (i.e. hospital ward) in 10 months, and then party at in his uncle's mansion (i.e. house arrest).

He got a slap on the wrist. Any human being subject to such lapses of judgement should not be allowed out in even 5 years and I won't be surprised if he gets in more trouble once his sentence is over.

Would such a convicted felon be allowed to own a gun once freed?

Here is a thought, maybe the judge could take Pistorius in as her room mate. Does she trust him that much? Still shocked she fell for his tears and story so full of holes you could drive a train through it.

Oscar Pistorius could yet be convicted of murder - Africa - World - The Independent

Quote:
Oscar Pistorius could have his conviction upgraded from culpable homicide to murder and face a possible 15-year prison sentence, after an appeal application made by state prosecutors was granted.

It means the case, ongoing for almost 10 months, will reopen in South Africa’s court of appeal in Bloemfontein, and be heard by a panel of five new judges.

I could sure live with it if they increased his sentence. A lot.
