Parole board to recommend Oscar Pistorius be released in August

Can't say I'm surprised, but he got away with murder, and got a slap on the wrist.

Wow - yet another miscarriage of justice here. Appalling. I guess human life doesn't have much meaning anymore. If you're a rich P.O.S. celebrity/athlete with plenty of $, you can literally get away with doing whatever you want. Sickening, but, again, not at all surprising.

A travesty.

I wonder how long it will be before he loses his temper and shoots someone else?

Is he allowed to own a gun? With his history, he should never be allowed to own a firearm again.

From the above link:

“What was in issue … was not whether or not [Pistorius] had foreseen that Reeva might be in the cubicle when he fired the fatal shots at the toilet door but whether there was a person behind the door who might possibly be killed by his actions,” Leach said.

"The trial judge, Thokozile Masipa, last year accepted Pistorius’ story that he fired believing the person in the cubicle was an intruder and that his life was in danger. But the Supreme Court of Appeals ruled that Masipa had made a fundamental error in law, and failed to apply the correct legal test in reaching her finding: whether Pistorius foresaw his actions might kill."

So he's guilty of killing someone intentionally. Surprise, surprise.

I'm probably the odd one out here but I think the guy is a class A idiot and intended to kill someone... but just didn't intend to kill the girlfriend. He's obviously the type to shoot first and ask questions later. But I don't think there's a "stupid moron" defense." I believe he was an uber paranoid personality type, with idiot tendencies, and a trigger happy finger, waiting for the chance to take someone out because he assumed there would eventually be someone to try to enter his home. Being rich, famous, living in S. Africa with an extremely high crime rate... could give him cause to think he was a legitimate target which set him on edge. If he's not the sharpest tool in the tool shed and paranoid, he's going to do things that contradict common sense (maybe he doesn't have common sense???). I don't know... we'll never know for sure I guess. I'm glad he's getting jail time though, killing that poor woman the way he did... intentional or not.
