This was last night's 48 Hours episode. Bethany married a cult leader, Tyler Deaton who turned out to be gay. One of his followers (who he was having sex with) confessed to her murder and said Tyler suggested he do it.

Everybody involved in this case is so messed up what with Tyler's influence, plus what sounds a lot like cult-like practices of the IHOP also, that it's really hard to figure out who's telling the truth.

But I found myself believing Tyler Deaton, that he had nothing to do with it, and it was probably a suicide. He came off as introspective, accepting blame for his involvement in Bethany's life, and truthful.

Am I blinded by Tyler's charisma?

Ack I don't know the facts of this case but The Bible rears its ugly head in almost all wife murder cases.

It's almost part of the profile - pious on the outside, vile murderer within.

I'll give benefit of doubt until more I do more research but his body language and his statement "the foundation of facts do not make me a murderess" makes me think he is lying or probably guilty. Almost everything he says or expresses comes off as false or deceptive to me. I could not find him guilty in court but as far as my personal feelings, that guy is sociopath who conveniently provides information to support a ruling of suicide but not in the normal way most people do it. He shows no emotion.

EDIT:It makes zero sense for an organization to force someone to falsely confess to what everyone though twas a suicide. I find it hard to believe someone in ihop would come up with an idea to basically frame someone for murder.

That was the husband's friend Micah who claimed it was IHOP that made him confess after an exorcism, wasn't it? And even though he confessed, he's not being prosecuted. If the police really thought this was murder, I'd think they'd hold onto him -- one of the detectives said he knew things that weren't made public. IHOP denies an exorcism even took place. Like I said they're all such a bunch of lunatics it's really hard to tell where the truth lies.

They aren't prosecuting anyone YET.

They are working on it and appear confident of an arrest.

How anyone can be blinded by this rodents "charisma" is beyond me. He's a screaming narcissist who thinks he's the smartest in the room yet comes over as nothing more than a smarmy smart&$(.

Guilty, and its a murder.

No suicide dies like that, its ridiculous. I imagine Micah doing it while Tyler was watching and telling him what to do.

You read it here first.

I think its more about they are not confident in a successful prosecution and not being convinced completely although they do think its more likely than not it was homicide. This is yet another indicator our system works, they have their suspicions but they are not going to rail road the guy until they can prove it beyound a reasonable doubt.

At first I thought he did it too. Even when he came on screen, saying they were married, I couldn't believe it. He seemed so obviously gay to me...
But man I think I fell for his BS too, I started doubting myself.
And all the twists and turns. No one getting prosecuted.

I thought oh well it must have been a suicide, somehow. But really who kills themselves by putting a plastic bag over your own head???? Right.

Females generally do not suicide in any way that involves the face. They do not shoot themselves, hang themselves (usually), far more likely to overdose, especially a NURSE with access to all sorts of candy.

Inhaling a plastic bag with wide open eyes is NOT a suicide.

Who on EARTH goes to work then suicides in their lunch break? NO ONE.

Its a murder and Deaton WILL be arrested and charged.

All my opinion.
