I was playing the video game "Defender" at a convenience store with a murderer 30 minutes before he got arrested. San Antonio back in the 80's? Murderer and his girlfriend had kidnapped a girl from a restaurant (Maggies?) parking lot and had her tied up in one of the sleazy hotels on Austin Highway. I had stopped for a Coke on my way home and decided to play a game or 2 when this guy came over and started watching, then we played a couple games together, then I went home, and he went back to hotel where cops were staking the place out.

I once dated somebody who later became nationally famous (or infamous, I suppose) for a murder she committed. And I went to high school with and dated the sister of a guy who wound up on Investigation Discovery channel.
I grew up in the San Fernando Valley of the 1970s and 1980s. We lived in Chatsworth, right next to Chatsworth Park, South.
Our home was only approximately a mile or two as the crow flies from Spahn Ranch...known to be Charles Manson's and his groupies primary hangout during his murdering years.
Thankfully they were all in jail by the time I was living in Chatsworth, lol
In 1989, I was living with my 3 yo daughter in Portland, Oregon....about a mile away from where Westley Allan Dodd abducted his last known victim right out of a local park....a little boy about the same age as my daughter. I used to wait on people who were friends of that little boy's family
Such a heartbreaking case.... Dodd deserved much worse than the mere hanging he got in the end.
I lived in Wichita KS when the BTK serial killer murdered the Otero family. I think the whole town was feeling vulnerable since there seemed to be no reason for the murders. I didn't know them, but they didn't live very far from me. By the time the murderer was found out, I'd moved back to Oklahoma City.
