I have a feeling this young woman's psycho drama was started in childhood. Her mother is a piece of work herself. I LOL'd when she said Shayna could not be a murderer because she was raised in The Church. LOL I'm still laughing. Then after she was convicted, she was upset because she didn't think there was any evidence of anything except self-defense against her innocent little child of God.
That said, I think he probably did lead her on. The first time he decided she wasn't what he wanted he should have held firm and refused to sleep with her again. I don't know if he thought he was being nice and letting her down gently, or if he was just horny. Either way, he did string her along. I've had a guy or two do this to me, and it does NOT feel good! You end up feeling like such a dupe when you figure out what's really going on. Do this to a psycho and you're just asking for trouble.
I hope a lot of young people saw this and think about it when they're getting involved with someone, and when they're breaking up. Don't date someone just because they're handsome/gorgeous or because you're horny, and be leery of clingy or controlling personalities. When you break up, be kind but firm and don't give them hope when there is none. And change your door locks.
She slept with at least 10 other men during the 18 months that the two of them dated. It's not as if they had this close deep relationship that he kept turning off and on. She also called it off with him on multiple occasions.
I watched the show. It was a horrible murder. No matter what the guy did or didn't do, I get the feeling it would have been another guy she had set her sights on. Her behavior after the murder--the dancing, the singing, pathetic. His family, so sad.
And now there is new info it seems as though there was a convicted felon on the jury so she will get a new trial . the only one I feel sorry for is her mother . Her mother has to live with the knowledge that her daughter killed someone in cold blood .

Do you think Mommy believes it was in cold blood? That wasn't the impression I got from her interview.

No, you're right Lilly, the mother has her head in the sand. She isn't living with the knowledge that her daughter is a cold-blooded murderer. She is living with the belief that it was justified and there should be no punishment. She believes that her sweet baby was railroaded somehow. She shot out of self defense. He was attacking her. He kept coming toward her even after she shot him so she just kept shooting. The evidence is all a lie according to mom.
However, all of the shots came from behind or above. The guy was sitting down at a kitchen table with his arms on the table. The first shot was directly from behind almost touching his skull. He went face down onto his left arm and his right arm jerked off the table hanging at the side. She shot again. The only shot that didn't go into his head went thru his right arm into the side of the table. She then moved to the left side of his body shooting him 2 more times in the head causing his body to slump onto the floor off the right side of the chair. The last shot was in his face. The furthest shot was from 3 ft.

To be fair, aside from the stress it puts back on his family, this isn't altogether bad. She deserves LWOP far more than she deserved 41 years with an opportunity for parole at 20. She doesn't deserve to ever get out.
I get that the guy strung her along and probably used her when it was convenient to him, but it also seems like she took rejection harder than someone should (even a high school friend pointed that out). And her apologies went to no one other than herself and her family and that prison won't rehabilitate her - not a word to his family.
The text messages to the friend showed she deserved LWOP to me!
Also, her mother is not living with the fact that her daughter is a cold blooded killer. She's living in a state of denial. All she says is that her child is a blessing to everyone. She is just as much a narcissist as her daughter is.
This girl is a classic borderline personality disorder. Same as Jodi Arias and Casey Anthony. I had a friend who was one. They have this power over men and are extremely dangerous. Men should run away but they are usually very attractive (my friend was too). She never killed a bf but she's come close. Held a knife to them etc. border lines and antisocials are not to be taken lightly Google their personality traits and avoid them
Shayna was found guilty again in her retrial. Sentencing in October after a pre-sentencing investigation whatever that consists of. Jury recommended life.
