Y'all can debate about the rate, but sheer numbers always speak louder.
Thank You! If it was rate the media be up St.Louis business constantly. Your average citizen looks at numbers not rate period.
St. Louis gets plenty of attention on this, and its "rate" is based on using only about 12% of the region's population, but almost all of the region's murders... St. Louis def has issues here, but if the playing field was anywhere close to even St. Louis would never be in the conversation for most dangerous.

I know St Louis gets attention overall of course but it doesn't have the highest homicide tally in the country currently. What do you mean base on 12% of the regional population?

Who has the highest tally then? As far as I know for big cities it has the highest homicide rate!

If that was truly the case then we'll be talking about New York City's numbers. Was there ever a time that the city's numbers were under 600? Chicago's murders have never reached 1000 and definitely never 2000 which is something New Years accomplished for DECADES.
That's because St Louis is only 66 square miles. You can't compare a 66 sq mi city to smaller metro areas with cities that are 324 sq mi like Memphis.
I get that, but the city limits are the city limits, i dont create those or draw the lines. Point is thats a dangerous 66 sq. Miles that i definitely wouldn't wanna be in the wrong part of town in an area so small.
No 2 cities are exactly alike in sq.miles so no real comparison can be made other than by city limits. If you wanna stretch St.Louis to Memphis size city limits then we arnt comparing the same thing because if you stretch it out you are now comparing suburbs which are not the actual city. The way you want to compare is basically metro areas.
