Just seems very strange, that a young man who now has been convicted of a random murder of a child with whom he had no connection, presumably while in the course of committing a sex crime, would then go on for the next forty years without committing another similar crime. I think it was a false confession. There was SO much publicity at the time of his disappearance that a weak mind could easily have constructed a fantasy of having been the perpetrator. There is no physical evidence and no witness connecting him with the crime.
Meanwhile, Etan patz's babysitter was dating a now known child molester, jose Ramos, who had met etan patz, had confessed to having abducted him on the morning Etan disappeared, and who was later convicted of the crime at a civil trial.
I'm afraid that an innocent man was convicted of a crime he most likely never committed.
There are a couple of other threads about this crime, the one below moved to the current events forum, that had similar questions after the most recent trial.
What a deranged person. Discussing the killing he said, "Something took me over" Holding no accountability, the "something" was him! Pathetic. These child killers...no words.

His lack of other convictions explains why the crime went unsolved for so long. His confession to police wasn't the first time he confessed to murdering Etan. Witnesses state he confessed to them several times over the years.
Well, not every sex killer is a serial sex killer. If it bothered him so much that he confessed over and over and finally turned himself in, that would suggest to me that he didn't enjoy it so much that he'd go out and do it again. What bothers me is that they convicted him basically 100% on his confession, did they not? With no trace of Etan ever found, how do they know whether or not the confession is kosher?
