Another victory for DNA. This murder occurred just south of us in Washington state. He eluded police for 30 years for the double murder of a young Canadian couple. I was pregnant with our daughter at the time and was scared to be by myself so spent the night at the neighbors when DH worked nights.

This is even more important than I thought. First case of the genealogy results from relatives tested in court.

I remember this happening when I lived in Washington, but had completely forgotten about it.

I love the thought of past killers, rapists and other low life scum not sleeping well at night anymore. I would think they would have to wonder if the cops kept any DNA or if any relative sent away to see where his origins were.

So much evidence was collected and stashed for a later date as everyone in the LE field knew that technology would improve in years to come. Thankfully people listened. And crimes, such as the above mentioned, will get solved and the perp gets what's due to them.

He was sentenced to 27 years which was the sentence guideline in 1989 when Mandy was murdered.
