Default Whats so special about natalie holloway seriously

a young white blond woman comes up missing in aruba and cannot be found. the US cannot trust countries own law enforcement to do their job without US intervention. so what in fact is so special about this woman?

Gretas claiming that the dutch(netherlands) a allie of the US should step in, but the dutch do not run aruba they only defend it. Now how many women have come up missing or have been missing for years and there are no news coverage about it years later. or that when foreigners are killed or kidnapped in the US, foreign goverments are not in the forefront of the investigation here?

a woman in florida was/is missing around 2007 no coverage what so ever like natalie

Whenever a pretty blonde from a well to do family comes up missing you can bet that the news media will fawn all over it. Greta Van Sustern talked about it every night for 2 years!

I don't see what the big fuss is about either. I would rather know about all the missing domestic children.

My heart goes out to anyone with a missing and presumed dead daughter. I don't begrudge them just because they have the money to attract attention. You can't tell me that if your child, God for bid, went missing that you wouldn't do the same thing and take advantage of any and all opportunities your money could or could not buy you. I surely would and honestly could care less what the public's opinion was of me since my focus would be on my daughter and what happened to her.

She was photogenic. The news media pays a lot of attention to photogenic people. Because they know the audience will drop what they are doing and look at a picture of a photogenic victim on the screen.

Also, nice, law abiding murder victims are pretty rare in our society. We have about 17,000 murders in this country every year. Of those, about about 16,900 victims are the kind of people who hang around with murderers, one way or another, and the media has a hard time whipping up very much public sympathy for them. When one like Natalie Holloway comes along, the media predictably lick their lips and think they have hit the jackpot.

I don't think that anyone begrudges the Hollway family personally but the fact remains that the rhyme and reason regarding who gets 24/7 coverage is an interesting issue. The National Center for Missing Children estimates that there are 12,000 non-family abductions. That's a lot of kids, and who makes the nightly news shouldn't be based upon race, racial attributes and/or the parents wealth.

But ultimately, it does. It is sad when you think that the media values "good looks" when it comes to a missing child or adult for that matter. Just a question. Would the whole Scott Peterson/Lacey Peterson/Amber Frye(sp?) incident gotten the same attention if these people looked like Archie Bunker, Edith Bunker, and their daughter Gloria?

Your figures disagree with mine by about two orders of magnitude.

"The most reliable research available indicates that there are only 100-130 cases of stranger abductions a year in the United States."

Disappearances of pretty, white, middle-to upper class girls are apparently great for ratings.
