The serial killer who terrorized a South Carolina community by shooting five people to death before police killed him Monday was a career criminal paroled just two months ago, authorities said. Patrick Burris, 41, was shot to death by officers investigating a burglary complaint at a home in Gastonia, N.C., 30 miles from where the killing spree started June 27. Ballistics tests showed his gun matched the one used to kill residents in and around Gaffney over six days last week, said State Law Enforcement Division Chief Reggie Lloyd.

There is JUSTICE! Let's hope the ACLU doesn't go after the policeman who shot him!

I was going to start a thread on this. (He was shot-down about 1hr west of Charlotte)

But what should be done about habitual criminals? This guy never had a murder/attempted murder charge but his criminal record was 25pages long (B&E, Armed robbery, traffic offenses, theft, drugs, etc). What can be done about people who constantly get in trouble for minor-almost major things but never get busted for anything too bad until its too late?

And he just got out of an 8year sentence I think. But you'd think there's a better way of doing things then what they're doing now.

A few years ago in Charlotte an illegal ("undocumented" whatever you want to call them) was drunk and driving the wrong way on I-485 (loop around Charlotte) and killed a UNCC student. THey found out that he had been deported (maybe arrested, cant really remember now) 16 times at that point. And he was still out doing the same things and finally killed someone.

Score one for the good guys.. Perhaps if prison was more about punishment than 'rehabilitation' minor offenders would not be so encouraged to move on to more major offenses. Just a thought......... The criminals should be afraid of us...not the other way around.

Do you not think there should be longer sentences for habitual offenders? I mean they take your license away for life after a few DUIs...why not do something similar for non-traffic related crimes? (Im not saying life in prison, but something)
