Hi all -- We've got a wood burning fireplace that we'd like to convert to gas before winter so that it actually warms the room that it's in, lol. Any ideas of good but reasonable places in Tucson to check out? Thanks!

It's been a few years now, Terrie . . .

However, I purchased mine from The Phoenix Brick Yard at 2025 Oracle Road (just South of Grant) and they were very helpful and offered competitive prices.

Good Luck

Thanks Bummer! I'll have to check them out. We've got a 25'x25' family room that was an addition & has no heat except for the wood fireplace. I think an insert should do the trick.

You're welcome and Good Luck, Terrie.

Are you planning to install it yourself? When I had mine installed the cost of installation was almost as much as the cost of the Gas Conversion Kit.

Also, don't forget to check the Arizona Tax Credit which I believe was $500.

I think my hubby's planning on having it installed, but if it's that pricey he just may rethink it! At least the gas line runs right next to the chimney outside so that helps.
Thanks for the reminder but we're already getting the tax credit -- Dual paned windows are being installed as I type -- Yippee! We still had the old crank ones from when the house was built in '66 so they were waaay past due for replacement.

WAY TO GO, Terrie . . .

I'll pass on this tip I received from my accountant when I was doing my "older home" upgrades . . . wait until after January 1st (only a couple of months away) to do your Gas Log Conversion and then the $500 Tax Credit will be for 2011.

If you need an installation referral, let me know and I'll check my records.
