I recently moved here from Florida and am in search of the best private elementary school on the NW side of Tucson, Oro Valley, etc. My daughter's birthday is September 29 and no public schools will admit her since she was born 4 weeks too late. She is currently attending a preschool so I am not looking for something until next fall (2011). She is very bright and is already starting to read. I want to continue to foster her love of learning and am frustrated that her admission is so strictly dictated by her birthday. Any suggestions for a good private school with looser age requirements? I am open to religious schools but they are not my first choice. Thanks for your input.

You can check on Green Fields Country Day School, you will need to call to get specific enrollment information. There is also Casas Christian School. (http://www.casaschristianschool.com/admission.htm - broken link) While they do follow the Sept. 1st guidline to enroll they do state on their website that they have a special program for children that miss the date requirement.

Look into charter schools(tuition free). Many of them have a Dec. rule, so your daughter would be able to go.

Thank you. I checked out Greenfields and their buildings are in such poor condition with rotted wood, peeling paint, and major deferred maintenance. The weeds were out of control and they just do not keep up their campus. I was planning to put her there but was so disappointed with the condition of the school that I don't want to send her there. The kindergarten building is a double wide trailer that is in VERY poor condition. We were really shocked.

I called Casas Christian and they were adament about putting her into a four year old program next year-no exceptions. This is their "special program."

These are both great suggestions though, thank you! Anyone know much about International Academy of Tucson?

Any suggestions on specific ones? Sonoran Science Academy won't take her.
