Defensive vs. offensive tactics.
I am an expert level Close Quarter Combat instructor here in Tucson Az under W. Hock Hochheim ( www.hockscqc (broken link) ) , if you want training in any well rounded combative system you're going to have a combo of offensive & defensive tactics. One of my first base style I trained in many years ago was Muay thai kick boxing & even that had both offensive & defensive components.I believe you need both since not all altercations require you to maim your opponent/s.I worked as a correctional officer & was a member of the E.R.T-Unit & even then there were times when we deployed less than offensive tactics. If you are looking for reality based self preservation training you have to be cautious that this system is based on combat scenarios & not old tradition or suffering of "sports leakage" like some MMA , grappling or cage fighting. It has to be based on modern tactical , situational , positional & practical scenarios such as those we might face out on the street. If you would like more info you can view my page on MySpace.com by searching Ronin Tactical Solutions , there you will find contact information & more details on what we do.You can also go to my instructor's site I mentioned at the top of this reply.I wish you luck in finding what's right for you & remember "Fighting first , systems second."
