Default Private water ski lake near Tucson?

We will be in Tucson for a week in January. My husband skis at a private water ski lake here in Washington - you know, the kind that looks like a dog bone... I want to be able to give him some ski time on a lake near (give or take an hour or so) Tucson for Christmas. After reading many other inquiries it sounds like there are no big lakes around, but are there any professional lakes nearby?

Thanks!!

Hmmmmmm, MsNinja . . . what's a lake?

All joking aside . . . I've lived in Tucson for ten years and have never heard of a "ski lake"!

Good Luck

This is the desert we don't have many "lakes" here let alone a "ski lake" (never heard of such a thing)....besides, I don't think I would want to ski on any lake in Tucson in January....it's pretty cold then, not to mention our winter rainy season.....sorry we can't help you!

I can think of only two. One is Firebird Lake just south of Phoenix. It's about an hour drive from Tucson. I don't know if they do rentals but you could call them. The Arizona State University ski team trains there.

Firebird International Raceway (2006 Track Rentals) (broken link)

The other one is near Queen Creek.

There's some good lakes around Phoenix and you might be able to do rentals at one of them. Tucson is definitely not known for water sports.

Its going to be too cold in Jan. but if he's a die hard, look on your Arizona map. There
are a lot of big lakes that would be good outside of Pheonix, just going to have drive
a couple hours or so. Try Lake Pleasant, or Lake Roosevelt. There is a lake southwest
out of Tucson, called Patagonia and I've seen jet skis out there but they've changed
the rules and I'm not sure if you can water ski anymore or not. You should be able to
find a website with info.
