No, the actual _driving_ is not a problem, the problem is all the people who think because they have an SUV that they are entitled to drive 70mph down a country road with no regard to the fact that they cannot stop!

Maybe not, but plowing the driveway just to get your car out, or brushing a foot of snow off of your car after many hours at work freezing your fingers to the bone (with thick gloves on) IS. Also, snow and ice usually go hand in hand. I don't care what you drive, if you hit a patch of ice you will slide. Seen many SUV's and AWD vehicles in the ditch. Everytime it snowed the amount of accidents would go up.

I love Tucson! I'll take the heat over dreary, gray, snowy area anyday. (esp. Cleveland, Ohio) We do live in the age of AC afterall. It is a small price to pay. On the hottest days in Tucson you can at least enjoy being outside in the mornings or evenings. Where I came from Cabin Fever was a yearly tradition in the winter for most people, excluding winter sports enthusiasts.
Here, I can look at the snow covered mountain peaks in the winter and if I ever miss the white stuff (NOT!) I can drive up Mount Lemmon and play in the snow or stay warm in the valley.

Very true. There's also the fact that all it takes is ONE person who cannot get up the offramp from the freeway to stop EVERYONE behind them (including those with 4WD or AWD). This happens all the time in Seattle when we get one of our infrequent snowfalls. Less than an inch and the city is typically paralyzed because nearly every hill or offramp eventually ends up with someone who is not equipped to drive in the snow blocking the road for everyone else behind them.

In regards to your comment -- If you enjoy a cold climate, what are you doing on the Tucson forum? Stay in Boston and have a blast! Better you then me. The wonderful winter season is surely on it's way. Have fun!

Default Tears in Tucson

I am a Californian/Oregonian coping in Tucson for a few years while my partner gets his masters degree at the U of A. I have tears streaming down my face as I write this: Do Not Move To Tucson. The quality of life here compared to the west coast brings me to tears on a daily basis. Life for me in Tucson has been a whirlwind of nothingness, anger, and sadness. Traffic, strip malls, and rednecks are the three ingredients that make Tucson. I am crying. DON'T MOVE HERE!
