Default Three points schools & internet

There are parts of the three points area may be a little questionable in that
there are some junky areas. I live in Diamond Bell Ranch - which is a housing
development about 3 miles south of Ajo (hwy 86). All the homes are stick
built, on one acre. Very, very nice development, quiet, lots of wildlife and
good neighbors. The grade school is about 2.5 miles down Sasabe (hwy286)
and the middle school is on Ajo just past the Chevron which is 3.5 miles
from here. I'm not sure how much of the area is covered for high speed
internet but we have Qwest DSL up here in Diamond Bell. We've been here
for four years and I love it. I can watch the sunsets from my back porch
sit behind Kitt Peak, have my morning coffee and watch the deer, quail,
rabbits etc. A lot of people go for walks out here because of the beauty
and the tanquility. You won't hear any police sirens out here either. Just stay
out of the junky areas. If you like this area, try to find a house in Diamond
Bell Ranch. Diamond Bell has underground utilities which include city water and natural gas. If you want to look at house in the area the multiple listing
website is RMLS™ - Home (I think) and under housing developments put
in Diamond Bell Ranch. PS. we seem to be skirted by half the storms that
come through during monsoon season.

In Diamond Bell Ranch which is a little further south we Qwest DSL, you'll have to call Qwest to see if they installed it all the way down the hill, otherwise its Qwest dail up.

Default Three Points living

The major bad thing about living in Three Points is the distance to the greater Tucson area. Teenagers aren't real happy about being stuck out here. There is an independent school district from k to 8th grade. Then the kids get bussed to a high scholl, usually Flowing Wells. There are several places to get gas, a couple of stores that carry a little of everything and serveral eating places. Not much in the way of entertainment. But you can have animals, a garden and quiet.

Does somebody know what choice(s) there are for High Speed Internet?

Thanks
Your best choice is Rural Net Wireless 405-5377 or 1-866-446-5882. Qwest the local phone co might have it on the south side of Ajo Highway.

Default Three Points/Robles Junction

I also live in Diamond Bell Ranch and have been here for 7 years. I have loved raising my young children here but I plan on moving within the next couple of years.
This is a beautiful area. Unrivaled sunsets, very green for about 3 months of the year, a couple of small snowstorms in the winter isn't unheard of and warm sunny days for most of the year. I know all of our neighbors and can run nextdoor for a cup of sugar or an egg if I've run out mid recipe. We peek out the back door and watch deer and rabbits grazing in the yard. The kids can run and play and I rarely worry about traffic. We play in the water during the summer and hardly come inside during the winter.
Shopping is almost nonexistent. While there is a market/hardware store and a new Dollar store in 3 points, that's really the extent of it. You WILL drive for about 30 minutes to get groceries or buy clothes. And the closest stores are in what is arguably the least desirable neighborhood in Tucson (although NOT because of the majority of people who live there ).

The schools are problematic. While I don't believe they're much worse than many TUSD schools, that's not saying a whole lot. Much of the district is severely challenged economically and that's reflected in parental involvement. It's difficult to attract quality teachers to drive all the way out here when they could work much closer to home. A few are local but the majority come from Tucson.
I've had no problem with illegal immigrants; my family in Cochise County have many issues with this but I myself have had none. The Border Patrol and Customs helicopters flying frighteningly low to the ground is the most worrisome aspect of the immigrant issue for me.
While there is a medical center in three points, for anything major one would need to go to Tucson. A person with a real medical condition probably would want to find a home closer to medical services. The nearest hospital is on the Southwest side of Tucson and, again, isn't the nicest that Tucson has to offer.
When my husband and I bought out here we imagined retiring in this house. When we leave, it'll be with very mixed emotions. I love living here. The neighborhood is wonderful. Even outside of this neighborhood, I've made friends with some fantastic people who live in 3 points itself. It's been pretty idyllic for a young family with small children. But soaring gas prices have convinced us to move closer to work, shopping, family, activities for the kids, and at least more of a choice in schools.

Default Lived in Three Points for over 29 years

My family has lived in Three Points for over 29 years. We are in the area of Ajo Highway and Sandario. There are good and bad things. We used to know every person in our neighborhood. It is a 30 min. drive into Tucson. The nearest grocery store is 20 mins. away. Hospital and most medical services for serious injuries are 25-30 mins away. It depends on where you live if you have a problem with illegals. Everyone has a fence and a gun in this neighborhood. It is quiet and peaceful. Some people burn their trash and have animals that roam. As far as thief, we have cameras. I know some "good" areas of Tucson that were hit in broad daylight. As you get older you love the serenity of rural life. The schools are not great. Teenagers are going to get bored. I don't like the idea of drinking the CAP water so I have bottled. An acre is enough land for a house, yard and a workshop/garage. Prices are reasonable.

When I went to UA in the early eighties, we used to go quail hunting in the hills below Kitt Peak.
I remember in Three Points was a store where drunk Papagos used to crawl out of the bushes in the morning after sleeping it off and ask us for money.
Does that still happen?
