Tuscon Medical Center (TMC) is not accredited by JCAHO, the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Hospitals. As a physician, I can tell you that this is a GIANT negative that would raise red flags for me. I would avoid any hospital that is not JCAHO certified.

I had both of my babies at the Birth and Women's Health Center, and LOVED it. Now I'm considering becoming an RN, but I was wondering if any of the hospitals are more open to natural childbirth?

Is there a way I can find out statistics on things like epidural rates, use of doulas, and breastfeeding success rates in various Tucson hospitals?

Ditto to that. TMC is a dump, and one of the worst hospitals in this town for nurses.

Congratulations!

I have had both of my children at St. Joseph's Hospital. I had complications with my first, and they were on the ball. I would go back in a heartbeat. I have head very good things about UMC. My girldfriend had her baby at TMC a couple of years ago. When I visited her, the hospital looked rundown. I was greatful to have delivered my children at St. Joe's.

I had a great OB/GYN let me know if you want her name!

Tucson Medical center is probably your best bet, then St. Joes. Ive lived in Tucson for many many years..take my word on it ! Im referring to general hospital care. However UMC does have some top specialists in the country for heart procedures.

I work at TMC and have rarely seen a bad experience here. The nurses doctors and staff are very caring. I have heard bad things about other hospitals and I'm sure there are horror stories about TMC. It all depends on who you ask and their personal experiences. I would try to find a good local OB/GYN and get recommendations from them.
