I was wondering if anyone has feedback to share regarding Dorn Homes' Desert Sky community, located on Oracle Road, north of Tucson? I've been told it's not too out of the way, but the development is small, and amenity-less, so I'm wondering if I'd be stuck out in the middle of nowhere? Thanks, ahead of time, for your ideas!

You would be anything but out in the middle of nowhere. Desert Sky is in the heart of Oro Valley, tons of restaurants, shopping, resorts, golf, hiking, biking, horse back riding etc. nearby. It is right next to Oro Valley CC. Though the Tucson city limits is several miles away down around River Rd, as you go north on Oracle from River, you are in the Casa Adobe area, continuing north past Magee you are into Oro Valley area and Desert Sky. It is one big contiguous area, full of retail development all the way up Oracle road from one area to the next. If you didn't know where the town bounderies you would never know you left town. You will be in suburbia.

Thank you, RickTucsonHomes. Yes, I see what you mean, but, if I may ask, what's the realtime distance from places like Trader Joe's, and getting to U of A? Thanks!

Trader Joe's 5 minutes. UofA 30-40 minutes depending on time of day & time of year. Lots more traffic this time of year. The Trader Joe's is right at Oracle /Magee just a little bit south of Desert Sky.

I stayed in that small development when I first moved to Tucson. It was very private, never saw any neighborhood interaction. This community has a gate, and only around 30 homes. When I was there, they were debating building more homes, that were 2 story. Residents did not like that, because they felt it could take away from the views. So I would look into if they are still building 2 story homes.
I also did not see any children, most people were older, possibly retired. I will say for the price of the HOA, there didn't seem to have the value associated with the cost.
