Hi everyone! I have a few questions about landscaping in Tucson. Let me describe my situation first:

The yard of the house we moved in to was not maintained at all. I have weeds growing over 60% of the property. I sprayed some weed killer on April 17th and I'm still waiting for it to finish dying to take it out of the ground. We have 6 or 7 different piles of stone that I have organized because it looks like whoever brought the stones to the property just went somewhere and got a car trunk load and dumped them here, so there isn't much to work with of one type of stone to do something significant style wise. There is alot of wood from fallen branches and a few stumps that needs to be hauled away. I have about 12 feet of chain-link fence that I have taken down and another 12 feet that will be taken down this week that needs removal. On top of that I have a few trees that need some trimming.

I basically want the junk removed, possibly have someone take care of the weeds (if it costs too much I'll just do it myself) and have some nice gravel rock delivered and installed in the backyard.

I've done some googling and gone through craigslist and it is pretty hard to get a ballpark figure of what this may cost; whether that be the yard work or the gravel work. So does anyone here have anyone that they recommend who won't charge an arm and a leg?

Or.......
Anyone know of a cheap trunk rental that won't mind the bed of their truck getting dirty from hauling yard stuff and gravel?

Thank you!

You might want to mention where the location of this job is. Tucson is spread out over a huge area and some of the cheaper independent contractors don't work everywhere. It's sounds like you need hauling as much as landscaping.

Home Depot and U-Haul both rent pickup trucks. Lots of people just rent the U-haul vans which have the ramps and make loading stuff pretty easy with a wheel barrow. Lots of land scape companies in Tucson. You might want to go with one that specializes in Xeriscape or natural landscape.
