Tucson bites dude... Been here 4 years and every year it keeps getting worse & worse. The job market blows, the customer service blows. People act like they just don't give a ----. I've had 8 jobs in the 4 years I've been here and that's more than I've had in the last 20 years combined. Poor management, low wages and a lack of leadership. Same goes for the quality of life here also, everyone talks about how green and healthy it is but 60% of the population is strung out on some kind of drug or booze and they REALLY want to drag you down with them... I'm outta here as soon as I get over 2 broken feet that was brought on by the irresponsible 20 something's next door 3 pit bulls attacking me...

You've obviously had some very bad experiences but I don't think they are in any way typical. I've found that almost everyone I run into in retail or service is happy to have their job and pleasant/friendly in ways I'm not used to on the east coast. We've spent a lot of time all over the city, many venues downtown at nights and on the weekends and I've never even seen students smoking dope which I'm sure they do but they don't blatantly smoke it in public places. As for other drugs, none that I've seen but I admit I'm 65 and not exactly the target of dealers . Drugs are pervasive, unfortunately, in all areas of society and geographically they exist in all area of the country.

Of course, not every area is for everyone and I agree the job market is less than attractive here, an unfortunate fact that needs addressing by the city. I would not want to be young, with a family, and looking for a living wage in Tucson unless I had particular skills in demand those industries that exist here.

unfortnuate but true. they just turned away big opportunity for El Rio/Grand Canyon University (Regina Romero to Pull Support of the El Rio/Grand Canyon University Proposal | The Range: The Tucson Weekly's Daily Dispatch). Regina should be recalled ASAP! Tucson is as dumb as Phx not building casino's in downtown Phx. you could drop $20mil in lap of Tucson and they turn it away. idiots. this is exactly why Tucson is ranked 6th poorest city in the nation! geez, Detroit declared bankruptcy, Tucson to follow if they dont get the heads out of their arss.
