Does anybody know what's being built there? It looks to me as if it can be a Trader Joe's... There was a rumor about one coming farther South on Houghton by Global Solar, but a corner usually makes more sense. Besides, Houghton is gonna be widened (can't quite see how between Civano and the Fire Station... pretty darn narrow in this stretch).

Thumbs down The mystery was unveiled...

There was a sign there yesterday - a QuickMart... Even if it weren't TJ's, could've been at least one of those new little Wal-Marts. Guess a gas station and a convenience store can be used in this stretch of Houghton, but I'm still disappointed.

We're just hoping for a Circle K at Red Rock sometime during 2009! We do have the Red Rock Bar though. One way to describe it would be, "interesting".

Tucson Weekly : Currents : The Red Rock Bar

I'm really looking forward to the new mall they'll be building at Tangerine. We definitely have to plan our trips more when we head out for something like groceries.

I'm not complaining of lack of shopping at all. Besides, I'm used to shopping on my way back from work. If I need something on the weekends, there's enough at Rita & Houghton. I was just hoping for something better than QuickMart...

Yeah, I recall reading about this bar of yours. Didn't somebody want to close it down...?

People keep trying to buy her out and she won't sell. I've stopped in there a few times and like I said, it's "interesting". I drove by tonight and it was packed. They were having a birthday party for Bobby. I went in for a couple beers last night and it was real slow so they were going to close at 7:00. They don't want to try selling any food because they said there's not enough business.
They're quite happy selling $2 cans of beer and a few sticks of beef jerky. Happy enough to turn down an offer of $1,000,000 to sell the place. The lady up the street offered $300,000 a year ago. Maybe they're waiting for the price to go up, or maybe they're just happy with their lives and don't want to change anything. You know the old saying "Money can't buy happiness."
