Marcy,
Phx is by far much more "vibrant" and fast growing vs Tucson. The views may be different as you describe, but thats a different metric, etc. Btw, any new development in Tucson is crammed cookie-cutter homes (except for places like Stone Canyon and the like).

phoenix is definitely fast growing but for a metro of around 4 million it has the smallest and least attractive downtown ive ever seen, having lived in phoenix, heck i was married there, its just a bland flat dusty, boring city compared to other metro areas the same size, tucson has so much more natural beauty and thank god its not growing fast, let the valley take up all the development so the rest of arizona can stay beautiful.

small downtown? tucson has no downtown, so i am not sure what that statement means.

i am hearing same thing though, tucson looks better. if looks is the biggest reason you move to an area, then i dont know what to say. and "the rest of AZ" is mostly Indian reservation, thus the non-res development is limited.
