I'm gearing up for a move to Tucson from Northern CA, and fell in love with Barrio Santa Rosa when I was there recently. Felt like I finally found out where the funky, creative people live - but it was purely a visual connection. I also think I may be priced out of that area already, but wondered if anyone could share thoughts on the energy/vibe/community spirit in the older, small Barrios (Anita, Viejo, Hollywood, etc...)around the downtown area. I love the idea of fixing up an old adobe - it may be all I can afford to get a place needing some attention. Also, does anyone have chickens in Tucson? Mine are coming with me! Thank you for any input on your gorgeous city.

I don't really know much about the barrios other than them being pricey (of course, there are places there I wouldn't take for free, but even they may be costly... who knows...). Even though they don't have HOAs, I find it hard to believe you can have chickens in your yard... I certainly haven't seen or heard any in town. I'd think you need at least an acre for that. Then again, I might be wrong. There must be city regulations on this topic. The RE agents should know them.

Sorry, not much of a help, but let's encourage other people to chime in.

I don't know a thing about the barrios but from your description of all the funky, creative people, I definitely want to go have a look see! I just moved to southern AZ and am loving it.
