Default Moving to Tucson on Jan 1

I am a 29 year old single straight male lawyer moving to Tucson right after New Years. I really only have two questions: 1) what is the best neighborhood/apartment complex to live in (I am looking to meet similarly situated individuals); and 2) what is the nightlife like in Tucson for someone of my demographic? Any insight on these two questions is much appreciated.

I'm in the same boat as you and there isn't really an area where single professionals tend to congregate. The nicer and safer places to live are on the NW side of town: Golf Villas luxury apartments, Catalina Crossing and Saddle Ridge are some examples. There are several complexes in the area of the Ina Rd./Shannon Rd. intersection, which is close to a mall and some restaurants but I can't think of any names at this time.

There are a lot of bars and restaurants on 4th street but it's near the university so you have a mix of college kids and older people. Nightlife is not one of Tucson's strengths.

Club Congress downtown in the old Congress Hotel is a great place to start.
There is also a art-deco retro cafe there that you might like.

The old Fox Theater was just renovated - great venue.

Lots of clubs and organizations to get involved in: social, political, religious, educational, etc . . .

Go for a Hike! You'd be surprised how many people begin to look familiar on the trails as you discover your favorite hiking spots - and maybe even make some friends along the way.

If you mingle with folks of like interest, you'll make friends anywhere!
Don't let others rain on your parade! Come on down!

Red face New in Tucson

I am 29 & new here in Tucson. I moved here from Ireland less than 3 weeks ago. I have gone into the Olive R Twist cafe bar a couple of times to watch Irish Rugby which was ok. Other than that i have just been hitting the shopping. Can anyone recommend a good club for meeting people of a similar age-like hiking or sport. Have varied interests & willing to try anything to get meeting people.
