I am both informing all those I can and collecting information on this issue. The Pima County Administrator and Pima Health Department are attempting to shut down the Pima County Attendant Care Program and its associated PCA Pool program (a caregiver back up system). They are attempting to move the 500 clients dependent on daily living assistance to 19 outside contracted agencies. But no one bothered to notice that not one of those agencies cover weekends, evenings, and back up. Some clients, like myself, depend on assistance 7 days a week. The system has worked for me up to this point and I've been able to live independently for many years.

Does anyone out there have more information and/or are you or someone you know affected by these changes?

There is a Press Conference tomorrow, January 23 at the old Pima County Court Building, 115 N Church Ave, 10:00am. There is also a public hearing on Friday, January 25 at 10:30am at the Herbert K Abrams Public Health Center, 3950 S Country Club.
