Anyone on here care to comment about how much per square foot it costs to have a house built on your property in the Vail/Sahuarita area or the Marana/Oro Valley area. What would the time frame for construction be from start-up to move-in? Not sure that we would be happy in the cookie cutter 1/8 acre lots of most builders. Just looking for approx. 2000 sq. ft home on maybe 1/2 - 1 acre but not so far out in the desert to make my wife paranoid .

I finally got my first quote for a garage, stucco; flat roof; 8' ceiling; stand alone and it was about $53/sq. ft. I think this is too high for a garage. I can't say for a house.

Does this builder charge $53/sq. ft. for a house too, or just garages? I'm getting quotes from builders right now. The lowest I found so far is $78/sq. ft. With my low budget, this isn't going to get me very much house, so I'd like to go a bit lower if I can.
