Default Summer Camp?

Hello Tucson!!!

I am wondering what is available in the summer for a 10 and 7 year old? I am in New York and we are moving there this year. I will have them start the new school year in Tucson.
In fact, I am flying there tomorrow to go look at (and hopefully buy) a house I saw online.
Ideally, I want to start work right away, but if we come down in June, I need a camp or something to do with them. Choice B, is to put them in summer camp here in NY, and move into the house the first week of August.

Ideas or sugestions??

The parks and recreation department has a lot of summer programs. My kids were in KIDCO for about five years and enjoyed it a lot. The programs fill up quick though and you need to register on the day that classes and camps become available.

The Udall Center is very nice. Lots of stuff to do. Probably my first choice. I also like the Randolph Center.

But like I said, classes fill up quick. They usually open registration on a Saturday morning and most of the good stuff is filled within hours, so you have to be ready and get an account ahead of time.

I've never understood the people that say their kids are like hostages in their own homes during the summer here. We've always been able to find plenty of stuff for our kids to do. You just have to make a little effort and look, and you need to plan ahead.

Here's another good source. Some of this stuff is real expensive though.

Default Adirondack Camp

I would stay in NY and send your kids to Adirondack Camp on Lake George...google it and check it out on line. My son went there for 7 summers...he's 23 now and still talks about it and is still in touch with kids he met there! It has been in business for over 100 years. They always have a great caring and fun staff that keep the kids active and involved. Speak with Matt Bassinett and tell him "Nurse Meg" recommended the camp!

I know you're still not looking for responses to this, but I'm replying to help others because for some reason this keeps coming up as one of the first things when I search for camp in Tucson.

I've been looking at a lot of camps, specifically art camps, and I've found that the Troubadour Theatre summer camp seems like a great program. They have a summer acting camp for kids ages 8-16, so both of my kids are able to sign up. You can find out about that one at The Troubadour Theatre- Classes and Camps in Tucson, AZ.

If you go here, you can get a list of pretty much all summer camps and classes in Tucson. Programs for Kids | www.azstarnet.com ®
