Having said that, since people can develop allergies throughout their entire life, from the time they are born to the time they die, I heard 7 years or so living in the desert people tend to develop some type of allergy from the plants and grasses there. Of course there is no steadfast rule and people could move to Tucson and spend 10, 20, 30+ years there and develop nothing or live there for 2 or 3 years and develop an allergy, it is one of those things that is highly personal and individual.
I have spent all of my life in Arizona and I don't have allergies at ALL when I am in Phoenix. My full-blooded brother on the other hand has severe asthma and is allergic to what seems like everything.

I didn't even know what allergies were like until I moved to Tucson for college where suddenly I would develop some (mild, not severe) allergies in the fall (does Tucson have something in the fall that the Phoenix metro does not have? Haven't been able to figure this out). I don't get allergies in the spring though.

If my brother ever moves out of Phoenix he may not have allergies at all. He probably needs a move out of this desert entirely.

My roommate, another Arizona native, has no allergies here but has a million in Las Vegas apparently when I was there this weekend. People are very different when it comes to this and unless we know everything you're allergic to we couldn't tell you.

Visit any allergy doctor's office and it is packed, especially in the spring. Seasonal allergies here (Spring) are high due to all the non-native plants. I was extremely sick the first year we lived here due to allergies-- once we figured that out, and I went through 2 years of shots, it isn't a problem.

People seem to expect low allergies here-- but definitely not.

TUCSON - Spring is the season for sniffles in Southern Arizona. Tucson was ranked as the worst allergy city in the West this year.
