Had originally typed a long response to this but deleted it remembering that these boards are a fairly cordial place mostly free of political opinion and argument. I saw no purpose in starting such an argument here which can only lead to rudeness. Which is itself a sad statement that it is almost impossible these days to have a civil conversation with differing viewpoints.

Tucson is a train wreck in so many ways. Mostly a dump with loads of crime. Very little to commend it. The city government is planning on spending millions in a battle with the state over destroying confiscated handguns vs selling them at auction as state law provides. Basically, obeying laws has become a choice among leftist people. Meanwhile taxpayers get reamed for more money to support leftist nonsense. Tucson cannot even repair its streets.

a feel-good, symbolic gesture?.....I don't disagree, but wonder how necessary this "proclamation/resolution" is.....

"these boards are a fairly cordial place mostly free of political opinion and argument." LOL! Thank you, I needed a good laugh.

I am not sure what the purpose of these statements by Regina actually serve, other than they may garner votes for reelection. In my mind, if someone is in the country illegally then that is a big problem. Imagine going to France for example, or Germany, or to anywhere really, and seeing what happens to you if they discover that you entered the country illegally. And please don't make the ridiculous, knee jerk assertion that this is something sanctioned by liberals. I am the most liberal person anyone will ever meet, but entering a country illegally is just that.

Do you want to know the truth as to why this problem exists? It is because rich, conservative 1%er Republicans AND Democrats want their dirt cheap lawn maintenance, they want their good cook to work for peanuts under the threat of depredation, they want someone reliable and cheap to babysit their kids. If nobody hired illegal aliens and the country gave benefits only to legal citizens, then this problem would disappear over night. No one comes across that border just to hang around in bad neighborhoods. They come to work and make money. If that is curtailed, the problem goes away. Jobs are supposed to be for US citizens and those who come here legally w/ a work visa.

Let's see, immigration falls under federal laws.
So why is Tucson wasting their time?

Sorry, but illegal is illegal. You do not have to go overseas to see what happens to someone who crosses the border illegally, just cross to Mexico illegally and see what happens. Anyone remember the Marine that accidentally crossed the border a year or two ago??? He was in a Mexican jail/prison for months. Enforcing the borders is nothing against Mexicans or Canadians, it is simply a matter of national security and financial solvency.

These politicians are simply pandering for votes instead of doing what is right for the city, state and country!

I agree.

I overstayed my work visa ONE DAY and it was a major issue when I went to redo my FM-4 to work in Mexico.

Canada would not allow me to work in Canada at all had my wife taken the management position that she was offered in Toronto.

While I am a strong supporter of immigration, especially for highly educated immigrants, illegal immigration needs to be stopped immediately and aggressively.

Absolutely, Bkolodzi . . .

As I posted earlier, this entire scam is nothing more than the "Sanctuary City BS" being resurrected primarily for the sake of more votes . . . aka: PANDERING.

What part of ILLEGAL are these goons unable to comprehend?
