You know, the few times I've driven through "God's backyard", I have to say, it seemed more like God's rear end, at least as compared to Tucson.

Considering '08 just ended that's as good as it gets. Anyway, I'd forgotten who you were and just refreshed my memory with your previous posts. You should've moved by now. Counting murders every day in a city you don't live in is a pretty strange pastime. If your plans didn't pan out that's not my fault. Go show the constant chip on your shoulder to somebody else. I'm not interested.

Here's some stats for Chicago...it doesn't look good here.

Chicago in the lead for Murder Capital 2008 // Current

508 for the year...14-18% increase over 2007 depending on what you read.

Chicago's 2008 homicide toll too high for Weis :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Chicago Crime (http://www.suntimes.com/news/24-7/1358102,CST-NWS-murd01.article - broken link)

Here's some 08 stats on Tucson. 74 for Tucson.

Bloody year: 104 homicides in metro Tucson | 2008 HOMICIDES IN TUCSON AREA

Regardless of what the numbers are you could still live either place and never even see one. It happens everywhere.

Another in a long line of predictable, reactive posts. Please stop boring us.

Ah yes, the 'crime happens anywhere' dismissal so often used on these forums which never explains why people with financial means rarely move to areas in town with higher crime.

Let's not forget the fundamental truth ... certain places are more dangerous than others, and for every Chicago there's towns like San Diego, Albuquerque, or El Paso that are less dangerous than Tucson.

That last link was a good read. Plenty of explanations, few solutions.

Good Grief! Quit whining! Buy a gun and a holster... and arm yourselves for Pete's sake. This isn't CA, NY, NJ, MA, MD or IL. Or is it easier or even socially preferable to remain 'victims'?

Is Tucson any comparison to Flint, MI, as far as crime goes? I figure since I've lived in Flint, Mi, there aren't many other places that can be worse? Anyone know anything about Flint, MI and the crime there?

Bagdad Iraq maybe?

Seriously though, go here (http://www.city-data.com/) type "Flint Michigan" into the city-name box and hit enter and it will bring up Flint's statistics - specifically take note of the overall crime rate (1018.0 - US average is 320.9) then go back and do the same thing for Tucson (2006/2007 data not available, but 2005 rate was 598.9).
