Hi y'all,

I'll be in Tucson this coming weekend and would like to see the desert (for the first time!) from horseback. I am a capable rider but I don't mind group rides or "plugs" (I can make them go, lol!). I would like a really nice trail ride (couple hours max) that isn't too expensive. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Hymnsinger

I think Catalina State Park still allows horse back riding.

Really great views through that park.

I know El Conquistador (The Hilton) in Oro Valley takes people on rides (usually hotel guests I think) but I have no idea what level rides or where they go.

I frequently see horses (and their droppings) in the Rillito River but I have a feeling they are locals riding their own pets.

Good Luck

Thanks for the replies. I guess I need to look in the phone directory for riding stables? I was hoping someone here had personal knowledge of a livery stable. It's always best to get a reference for horseback riding!

I know nothing on the subject, but was gonna mention Pantano Stables I know. Turns out at least one person likes them...

I think there are stables at the East end of Speedway, too. I'm sure there are many others, but that's as far as my knowledge goes.

I know someone who goes to the one at the East end of Speedway - I'm not sure what it's called, but he likes them.

Up at the north end of Tucson, in Catalina (where I lived for 6 mos.) there's Pusch Ridge Stables, 13700 N Oracle Rd
Tucson, AZ (520) 825-1664

They have some beautiful rides among the Catalina mountains, where I used to ride my horse.
