Oh, I'm well aware of the current housing situation in FL...
True, it's very different. My wife is Caribbean though and she loves it here too. It took a while for her to appreciate the desert though. We have caring family in NYC and FL that send the necessary foods we miss.

Good luck to you Jules. Have you been here before??

Hey!! I'm Cuban too!! Too bad there are not many of us out there in Tucson

I've visited the hospital for 2 days or so. Honestly, I didn't really get a feel for the area since I didn't stay there that much. All I remember is that it was hot...and very bright.

SO...how many other Cubans are there in Tucson. And is there Cuban food too?

No soy Cubano, pero vivo in Miami ahora. Does that count? Gotta be honorary or something.

I haven't been to a Cuban restaurant in Tucson, but it looks like there is at least one. Sounds cute:

cuban restaurant loc: Tucson, AZ - Google Maps

I'm out of touch with most restaurants in Tucson in general since the smoking bans. Actually, I've been only to one Cuban restaurant ever - in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It was a very cool place and the food was good, too.

As far as finding just food, I'm not sure what you're looking for. Obviously, there are no imports from Cuba anywhere.

Sooo, you better like Mexican!

Actually I said my wife is Carribean, she's a Trini. There are quite a few of the West Indians here now, we meet others around town sometimes. As for Cubans I really don't know, but yeah I've heard of that Restaurant SierraAZ mentioned, never tried it. I know it's been around a while. It should be noted Mexican food here is much different than in FL.

If you cook though you can find the majority of ingredients at Food City. It's a full size Mexican grocery, but my wife finds alot of the ingredients there. I think you could find most things there if you cook.

It is very bright and very hot in the summer, but doesn't feel as hot as FL IMO.
