Default Good area??

I got a question about a particular area. I know in general that going north and or north east is supposed to be the better parts of Tucson. How about the areas around Skyline dr and Campbell?? I found some townhomes online that look pretty good (from afar)

It's one of the best - clean, pretty, upscale shopping, art galleries, etc.

Yeah, that's a GREAT area. We stayed at the Tierra de las Catalinas condo complex - is that the place you are referring to? It's in that exact location - or are you referring to the condos on either side of Campbell south of Skyline?

FYI -
I have a whole series of photos of the complex we stayed in, in my Arizona Webshots album, starting on page 5 with photo pict6904 and continuing on to page 6:

Arizona (mostly July/August 2007) pictures from arizona photos on webshots

In the link above, click on the thumbnails to see larger versions, then on the "Full Size" link in the upper right-hand corner to see even larger versions.

Also I'm attaching a few aerial shots (seen below) of the area and then the complex we stayed in. The first one is a Google Earth capture, the second two were captured from using Microsoft Live (Live Search) I think it comes with a free install). Microsoft Live has close-up scrollable images of Tucson (like those showing the complex) - and I HIGHLY recommend you check it out. You can scroll around anywhere around the city and look at the buildings from all four directions (N/S/E/W). Very, very useful indeed.

Yeah that looks like that condos that I was refering to. I used google maps and it has a "street view" that shows a view of the area from a "street" perspective.

Ok - well, as we've mentioned, it is a VERY nice area and the complex itself is pretty nice too - with a decent pool and a bit of exercise equipment. As you can see from the photos it back directly on the desert and the mountains. At night the bats fly out from the Catalinas and pass directly overhead as they fan out over Tucson (not in a hge stream or anything, but in a noticable (if loose) stream (a few here, a few there, but more or less continuously in that manner).

We would GLADLY stay there again - and in fact are considering doing so again in September (trying to decide if we can afford it right now). The office complex shown under construction at the SW corner of Skyline and Campbell should be completed by now (was almost so when we were there last July). The large shopping center across Skyline from it, is a pretty fancy place with high-end stores (the grocery store there is VERY expensive - we chose to buy groceries at the Safeway a few miles west instead) and some very nice restaurants.

All in all the area is very safe, very clean, and very upscale.

No worries.

Any specific questions, feel free to ask. Hope the Webshots photos are useful.

Ken

Hi Chow; yes it is a good area albiet congested as far as traffic.
This is pretty much true for much of Tucson within the last few
years. If your not looking at the area to stay close to something
you may also look closer to the Oro valley area (further north)
or the Vail area (SE). I have resided in Tucson for 40 years
and am connected to a local/nationwide group of real estate
investors. Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
