20 days!!! and a question
I move in 20 days!!! Can't get there fast enough. I miss my family.
Question...A woman at my daughters new school said there is a place that makes real philly cheese steaks (bread and all). She did not know the name or where it is. Does it ring a bell with anyone?? I would love to know where it is, if of course this is true. How about Pizza? any good places?

Frankie's and Daglios. They import the amaroso rolls from Philly and they used to be partners, I'm not sure why they split but it looks like they're competitors now.
Funny how that goes with cheese steak places, a la Geno's and Pat's
Look for the other food thread too.

Frankie's is absolutely the best cheesesteak in town. Philly's Finest is decent, a little cheaper, and open on Sundays (Frankie's is not), but it still doesn't compare.
For pizza, Brooklyn is, IMHO, the best New York style. There are other good places that have it like 1702 on Speedway (fabulous beer selection), Arizona Pizza Company by Park Place Mall, and Brick Oven on Grant, as well as a few others.
But, if you're looking for Chicago style, it's either Rocco's or Zachary's. Rocco's is more traditional (cheese inside), but Zach's is really, really good with, again, a very good beer selection.

I have to disagree about the pizza. Grimaldi's is the only coal brick oven pizza in tucson and it's the closest to NY-well, real NY there is. In fact it's the same as NY. I'll go out on a limb and say that because I've eaten at all the good pizzerias in NY and this is as good.
Sorry to sound like a broken record to those who read here regularly but da truth is da truth.

I usually cut chains out of the rankings, but I'm just anti-chain. Ate at Grimaldi's right after it opened and wasn't impressed, but I should probably give them another chance, maybe at their base in Dallas. The place it used to be (some sort of fancy pants pizza place) was better, I think. Rosatti's across the street is also better.

Well, They're the same Grimaldi's that's in Brooklyn so I don't know why their base would be Dallas. There may be pizza more appealing to the masses in Tucson, or better tasting in others opinions, but NY pizza should be done the way they do it.

Cheesesteaks in Tucson
I found a GREAT place in Tucson that makes the terrific cheesesteaks! Frankie's So Philly Cheesesteaks and Hoagies on Campbell Avenue is awesome. Frankie is a Philly native and brought the great taste of Philly to the desert. I used to live in Phillly also and Jim's Steaks on South Street was my fav! He ships the Amoroso rolls in from Philly, uses only top quality meats. They say all of the food is prepped fresh, onsite. They are located at 2574 N Campbell Avenue 520-795-2665, they deliver too!

Glad to hear you're enthusiasm lovetucson but Frankie's was mentioned above with the same amount of fervor as in your post. I definitely know where to go for a great cheesesteak now!
