southwest gas termination fee
I want to get my name off a Southwest Gas account that I'm no longer associated with. They say that taking my name off an account that goes to a house I don't live in and people I don't live with will cost fifty dollars.
Really? Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks.

Wow, I have never heard of that. Did you call the customer service line at 889-1888? What was their reasoning behind the fee?

Me, neither, and I've done just that about 2 years ago. The only difference could be that I had service with them before and I actually had transferred that service, so I was the primary name on the account.
Considering how greedy everybody's become, though, nothing can surprise me anymore. The discussions on the Phoenix forum about their current Southwest Gas bills give me the creeps. When I was using gas (not that long ago) it was dirt cheap.

Okay, it seems that what they are requiring is that I pay the current bill for them to remove my name from the service. Doesn't seem fair, considering the divorce decree, but it's probably easier to just pay the $50 than try to fight it.
So I'm relieved to say that I was wrong, and they don't charge people 50 bucks to disconnect an account!
Thanks for your quick replies.

Thanks for letting us know. I was gonna say WTH... I used to be happy with them. It was either them or TEP (don't remember) who actually returned a deposit to me with interest, on time, and without me having to ask for it! I was truly impressed! Of course, it was back in the days when there still was customer service around...
