Where to buy furniture? Thanks!
I will go to Graduate school soon in Tucson and will move into a studio. Where are the good places to buy furniture (i.e. office chair, bed, and mattress) with reasonable or relatively cheap price? I am still a student though.

You can try freecycle to see what they have available. It is free.

Check out craigslist, sometimes you can buy nearly brand new furniture. Have you thought about Ikea up in Phoenix?

I was thinking about Ikea. Does that mean I have to get a van or rent a U-hual? I drive sedan though. Thanks!

Well for a studio I wouldn't imagine you would need a U-haul, most of their furniture comes boxed up and pretty compact so at the very most you would need a truck.
But again, it depends on how much stuff you want to buy. You might be better off looking around in town since you're just trying to outfit a studio.

Well, considering Ikea is in Phoenix - I'd say! Then again, some things to be assembled come in boxes that can fit in a sedan.
This reminds me once I bought a desk, 2 little file cabinets, and a chair and they all came in 1 box! Boy, was that box fun to carry, though...

What about these local stores? Such as Sam Levitz Furniture, La-Z-Boy Furniture and Bed Mart, do they usually free deliver if I buy bed or mattress?

Love Sam Levitz! Pretty much got my entire household of stuff there. In fact, my older son's bed comes today. They are always running some kind of sale. If you go to the one on Pantano and Broadway, there is a huge clearance center there too. Lots of bargains.
I paid $35 for delivery on my most recent order. They calculate it by the $$ you spend.

Did they really shorten their delivery window to 4 hours? Because it used to be 8 - yes, practically they were expecting you to waste a day of your life waiting for them. That's the reason I've never bought anything from them. Well, that and the fact I can't stand their relentless pestering.
I'd recommend American Home. Of course, there are cheaper and less known places in town as well. Good deals can be had at Desert Design Center - on Speedway, somewhere between Rosemont and Swan, on the S side. They have a website. I had a little problem with the delivery, but it might've been a fluke.
