I just graduated from high school, and I've been wanting to leave Los Angeles since before I even graduated. I will start working soon, and I know that Arizona is cheaper to live in than anywhere in California.

Are there any decent apartments over there that are $650 or less.

Hi RJS;

I am new to Tucson myself, and asked a friend here for recommendations. He has been working with a lot of local apartment complexes and developers. Here are a few of his recommendations to me:

Palm Gardens – 5th St & Alvernon. Being remodeled, responsible new owners.

Elcon Gardens Apartments - 3507 E 3rd

Las Villas – 3400 block of 2nd street. Quiet neighborhood.

Knollwood Terrace. 3528 E. 2nd. About a block east of Las Villas. Well-run, quiet. Owner is apparently quite conscientious. Mgr has lived there, in addition to being manager, for about 10 years. She does very careful upfront filtering.

As has been posted many times before, RJS . . . since commuting in Tucson can be a real booger, it is best to determine your place of employment prior to locking yourself into a lease. The most beautiful apartment in Tucson could be a nightmare if it requires an hour plus commute to work.

My recommendation would be to find a furnished room or a month to month studio apartment until you know exactly where you will be working.

Good Luck
