I realize most cases in Tucson at Traffic light, when people try to turn left at cross-section, they yield when the light is green. Then it changes to yellow, then to green arrow and red at the same time, which is a sign of safe left-turn. Does this happen to all traffic lights in Tucson? Today I was drving on Oracle from North to South, trying to turn left, on River. What I saw was that it became from Yellow to Red, no green arrow when I was in the middle of intersection. This forum also discusses there is a traffic camera over there. Did I see something wrong with the traffic light? I did not see flash light go off and I am pretty sure there was another car behind me. Did I break any rule? Was I caught?

The GREEN ARROW follows the GREEN BALL at the Oracle and River intersection and YES, Kevinsuper . . . that is one of the Notorious Camera Intersections.

However, if and when you are caught you will know it. Lights, similar to Lightning, flash from all directions and leave little doubt that someone is BUSTED.

Good Luck that you weren't one of the Lucky Ones because the fine is hefty (280 Bucks according to a "caught" neighbor).

No, you didn't do anything wrong. You're fine - you were in the intersection. Arrows don't always come up - if there's only one car they don't (the turning lanes have some sensors). While most arrows in town are like the one you're describing, there are some leading green arrows which I find annoying since they're not common - better stick one kind across the board. Then again, we used to be known for having very fun suicidal lanes - thank goodness those are gone.

While we are on the subject of traffic rules.....whats up with people driving so close to your bumper!! I feel like I am back in NJ!! I can deal with it during the day but at night there are no street lights and since I am a "newbie" I am sometimes unsure of the street I need to turn...it scares the crap out of me. Other than that,I am loving it here!!

It's disgusting! Is it me or was it not that bad in the past...?! I don't understand wth they think they'll achieve... at least I can sort of see the point of swerving and endangering everybody! A few feet are gonna make a damn difference...?! Just accidents waiting to happen! Today I'm minding my own business in the right lane and again somebody's riding on my tail provided there's nobody in the left lane...

On the freeways usually big trucks and SUVs try to intimidate the car in front of them to get out of the way, but wth is this tailgating about on city streets is beyond me! Of course, if you keep enough distance in front anticipating the jerk behind you to hit you then another jerk's gonna end up in front of you... It's gotten so bad that when I stop at an intersection and there's nobody behind me I always leave a car length in front so I can roll up need be. Particularly after I saw a lady in casts who was hit at an intersection by some flying idiot behind probably yapping on the phone, too.

Millie, these are the drivers which morph into monsters when they climb into a motorized vehicle. They suddenly have all of this newly found horsepower, and they need to give these horses full rein by continuing to roll along at some pre-ordained fast & furious NASCAR speed or their brain will turn into mush.

When they roll up behind you and can't go as fast as they have been pre-ordained to do, then their mushy brain attempts to TEACH you to learn how to roll as fast or faster than them - or get out of the way. That's basically it.

See? Its all really very simple!
