Speeding ticket question
I recently recieved a speeding ticket on speedway from a motorcycle cop. I was traveling 19 miles over the speed limit and recieved a ticket with a 208 dollar fine attached to it. Because Ive previously recieved a ticket from a motorcycle cop, I recall having to sign and acknowledge that I recieved the ticket. Well this time around the cop didnt make me sign anything. And on the ticket itself there is a place that is blank that says "Signature of defendant". I think this is where you acknowledge you have been served.
So my question is.. If I wasn't asked to acknowledge that this crime actually happened, am I exempt from the penalty?
thanks!

Please don't take my word as gospel, but I don't think unsigned tickets hold up in court. Like I said, don't take my word... you may want to make a couple phone calls about this one.

Definitely NOT worth the risk, pls.
Either pay the fine or request the driving school option rather than ignoring the ticket because the next time could very well mean an inconvenient trip to the SLAMMER plus a vehicle seizure.

I didnt say anything about ignorning the ticket.
I was simply asking about unsigned tickets and fighting them in court.
But thanks for such productive advice.

You might be able to contact an attorney and ask them. That way you wouldn't be in danger of incriminating yourself. I doubt they'd charge for such a simple question. If your employer offers an EAP, check to see if part of that is a free legal consultation.

I know, I see it as I'm almost run off the road by people who feel the need to weave in and out of traffic. These seem to be the same people that feel the need to go 19 over the limit.
And I edited my previous post; I had just woken up and did the math wrong.

I just got a ticket for driving 18 mph in a 15 in a school zone. The fee is almost $400.
He told me I was going "about 25" until I asked to see the radar...always ask!
I've read on here that OV police are strict and they are! I see people pulled over all the time.
