Default White appliances, light wood cabinets?

What's going on, guys -- do they only sell white appliances in Tucson? I'm looking on the MLS and it seems like every single kitchen has tacky light wood cabinets and white appliances. Hello, 1996.

Maybe it's just the price range I'm looking in? $200-300K. I want one of those sexy kitchens you see on tv.

You're right. Many kitchens do look like what you're describing. Keep looking! God knows there's plenty on the market.

I've always wondered how so many people think that looks attractive. To each his own I guess..

I'm thinking it's also due to the fact that white appliances are the cheapest and usually the tacky cabinets are too.

I think that's the most likely reason, too. I personally would never figure out why in the world prices of appliances differ depending on color...

I hear you... I could understand stainless being a little more, but just a different color doesn't make sense.

It's more expensive because it looks better. Just like cars.

Peopel that have actually owned stainless, will tell you they are a pain to keep clean, and show every single fingerprint. The white textured look, will not show the prints and looks more spacious than black.
Avocado is outdated; white is not.

I don't know, but we bought a new condo that has stainless steel appliances (with Windex and a paper towel, not a problem at all), granite black countertops in the kitchen and custom tile in the bathrooms and kitchen. The white is not everywhere. And our cabinets are oak and embossed, not something plain.
