Tubac Festival
There's gonna be a festival in Tubac soon, so I figured some of you guys may not know and would like to go.
50th Annual Tubac Festival of the Arts
February 4 - 8, 2009
Every February, the Tubac Chamber of Commerce is proud to sponsor the Tubac Festival of the Arts. The major event of the year for Tubac showcases the work of hundreds of visiting artists, craft persons and musicians from around the country and Canada. While the show is juried for quality, it is not pretentious. Serious paintings share the street with whimsical sculptures and New Age music. In addition to Tubac's many fine restaurants, during Festival you'll find a food court packed with delicious treats.

Sounds wunderbar, Sierra. I've not been to Tubac much - except like once ever... usually just passing through. However, I did go once to a Greyhound Dog Track, which used to be in or close to Amado, AZ.
Does that count?

To tell you the truth, I've only been there once many years ago, so it's time to refresh my memories.

If you don't clean up the attic on a regular basis there's no room for anything new to get in!

We'll be there on Friday and/or Saturday, so if nobody else posts a review, I will when we get home.

I went there today. It was nice as it's a lot more spacious than our 4th Ave fair. Pretty much the same stuff (the participants go from fair to fair), but there were some artists and some unique beautiful work I haven't seen before. It was crazy windy! It was almost hazardous walking around with things flying and falling all over the place. Poor merchants selling fragile and expensive items! I was curious if it was a fluke or it's windy often and asked 2 locals - one said it was windy and the other denied it...sorta like my responses to something or ZP's... It was a bit overwhelming covering the festival itself and the regular stores and galleries. I think I'll devote another day to the permanent fixtures. Since I hadn't been there for many, many years, I didn't realize how much there is to see and took a detour to the duty free shops in Nogales in the morning. Of course, it's another matter what you can afford... In a way Tubac has the feel of Scottsdale.
On the way back I decided to cut across and take Sahuarita Rd which works for me (a lot better looking at pecans and potentially cows than being on Valencia), so I stopped by the Rancho's Fry's because it has a nice home section. I'm only mentioning this because of the funny part. As we all know, the all-mighty RS is located almost next to the trailers of the real Sahuarita, soooo they share the grocery store. I thought it was hilarious coming across a few shoppers not quite fitting the ambience.

Do people who live outside of Rancho Sahuarita think of it as pretentious and snobby? The only reason I ask, is because of your "all-mighty" comment. I don't understand your trailer comment, in my opinion everyone in Tucson (including) Sahuarita dresses and looks like **** most of the time. I thought that was a Tucson thing, not a trailer park thing.
