The instructors and professors can also make a big difference. I recall having some which made me eagerly looking forward to attend class and others where I'd fight to stay awake. If your classes are mainly "Memorize XYZ Material then a Test to see how well you memorized XYZ Material"... it's less valuable than a class which teaches the deeper importance and uses of the material.
Example =
Weak History class would only be memorizing dates, names, locations and events. This only challenges your ability to memorize which I recall would occur far too often within classes.
Strong History class would have a somewhat less focus on testing memory yet teaching the importance of how weather, politics, inventions, illnesses, and military strategies all played huge factors. Thus less likley to repeat mistakes within history and allow the individual to consider all variables when facing important obstacles or decisions.
