Okay. JAVA Edge ain't bad...

I agree that JAVAlina's was better... it had more of a "Southwest" name.

Although, JAVA Edge seems to follow the coffehouse theme of being jittery and buzzy!

Yeah...it's part of a chain of sorts now. Java Edge's website talks of conference room uses etc. Not sure what their prices were before but now a sandwich is $7.50 starting out. Not to mention if you get anything to go with it. Easily probably a $10-$12 lunch place.

In Colorado, we have black bear, deer, coyote, elk, skunks, porcupine, foxes, and just about every wild animal there is. The best thing to do is leave them alone and let them go their way. My neighbor, a very nice, old lady, hand feeds the deer, elk and foxes. One of these days, one of them will turn on her. Give the javalina and other wild animal a wide berth, and you'll be fine. They're pretty scared of you, and if you provoke them, or scare them, they will go after you. So, the best thing to do is NO eye contact, pretend they aren't there, and if threatened, make yourself as big and tall as possible, and NEVER run from them. Just a wild animal lesson. :-)

Sounds like what we do around here with the gangbangers...

They're everywhere... they're everywhere! Mostly though, they will roam through Tucson's system of arroyos, creeks, washes, and open desert areas. Certainly they will wander along the major "rivers", like the Pantano, Rillito, Santa Cruz, and Agua Caliente, where they usually have free rein. However, they will also enter almost any areas where humans reside as well. So just be aware of your surroundings.

From my experience, they will not heed the NO JAVELINAS ALLOWED signs.

I smell them more often than I see them.

If you ever think you smell a skunk, there's probably a pack of javelinas close by.

I've seen them around all the golf courses I've worked at, lots of bobcats too. I usually see them walking in the washes very early in the morning. Try one of the public trails near a golf course. Dove Mountain in the Tortolitas is a good place, also Ventana Canyon.

I saw a big javelina walk across the first tee last week while they were four guys teeing off. He didn't stop and kept walking by, just playing through and nobody was going to stop him.

Be careful if they have little babies with them, they'll definitely come at you if you're near their little ones.
