She is absolutely fine. Not a scratch which is the most important thing. Now the uglier stuff... she was crossing Houghton on Old Spanish Trail around 3pm Monday and some girl busted her in the drivers side going 40. Completely ran the red light. Of course she says she had a green but a witness said she did not, that my wife had the green. I'm guessing she was texting or something.

I am not sure what to expect but have a good lawyer's number if I have to get into it. For some reason the TPD officer chose to put 'No independent witness to verify who had the green' in his report despite a witness telling us and HIM that my wife had it. WTH is that. I figured he just didn't want more paperwork or something... very irritating and it makes the insurance investigation a little tougher.

Grr.

Glad to hear your wife is OK!
Do you have the witness' name and number? Just in case.

Yeah i called him to say thank you for stopping. He is in the police report under 'Witnesses' but the officer chose not to accept his statement. I asked the officer why and the officer muttered something about a technicality... the witness couldn't say where someone's car was exactly when the light was green.

Wow, sorry to hear that. Glad your wife is OK! Houghton & Old Spanish is a pretty darn simple intersection. One has to be sleeping or be a total @sshole to cause an accident there.

I've no idea why the cop did that, but I'd go straight to some higher-up and have the report amended! Particularly since you're in contact with the witness and he/she is willing to cooperate.

Pretty wild stuff, glad to hear your wife is okay. Makes you kind of glad she was driving an SUV and not a SmartCar eh?

Bummer on your beautiful vehicle, Beowulf.

However, the good news is that your wife is ok. Those big trucks definitely know how to take the pounding while protecting the occupants.

This is just another positive for those advocating Red Light Cameras.

Also, if the other driver was either Texting or Chatting, this is another example why all Cell Phone Activity needs to be outlawed before more accidents and/or injuries occur.

MY TWO CENTS WORTH.

Ouch! Glad to hear your spouse is okay, after seeing those pix! I'm not understanding this officer's idea of what a witness can or cannot say to have it be acceptable in a report!

Exactly! The insurance guy said he was going to go buy his wife one... after he saw my wife was unscratched.

Wow! I'm so sorry about the accident! That is one messed up car. And had to have HURT (meaning jarring the body inside the vehicle). Glad she is safe and sound. But that really sucks about the whole TPD officer thing.

This makes me a little happier about driving my Avalanche...when I see how unscathed she was in her SUV.

I called the officer's substation and left a message. he is off til Sunday.

I should hear if it is declared 'totaled' today... i can only assume it will be. It looks like frame damage to me at least but I am no expert.

We've had a really, really bad run of luck since the day we moved here. I know it is not Tucson but man it's been a tough ride.

My buddy tells me 'actually you had very good luck with your wife coming out of that untouched'... so i guess that is a good way to look at it.
