In the Northeast, if you have the $$$, you can go to Home Depot and get Mosquito magnet. My neighbor had one and he showed me a full bag of dead mosquitoes. We see significant increase after they moved.

In the end, if there is no wet environment (still water) for them to breed, there will not be any mosquito. Their life cycle is only 14 days at 20 °C (68 °F) and only ten days at 25 °C (77 °F).

In the great north woods where I live, (Upper Michigan) there are several tricks some folks use for mosquitoes. 1- Pin a sheet of fabric softener to your shirt or tuck a couple under your belt. This works for many people. 2- About a month before the mosquito season starts, take 100mg of vitamin B-1 a day. It is harmless to people. B-1 is excreated through the skin and the mosquitoes don't like the smell. People cannot smell it. 3- Avon Skin So Soft works well for many folks. If none of that works, drink a little whisky. If that don't work, drink a little more. It won't stop the mosquitoes but you won't care about them;-)
