Default Wunderground weather radar and weather stations map

The regulars here no doubt have heard (many times) about the wunderground.com weather station out on J-6 very near our property. Well, for the last few weeks it's been down and I'm starting to think it's not coming back up.

However, there are PLENTY of other wunderground.com private weather stations in the general area of Tucson. Just take a look here:

WunderMap Interactive Radar & Weather Stations : Weather Underground

That's the weather station and weather radar map homed in on the general J-6 area. At the moment, it's raining over the Whetstones, Rincons, Little Rincons, and the stretch of I-10 that runs in between them. Note that the map is zoomable and movable. Note too ALL THE DIFFERENT personal weather stations out there in all kinds of neighborhoods. Scroll over to Tucson and you'll see there's tons of them. It's pretty interesting to watch them during thunderstorms such as those going on right now - you can see the temperatures plummet as the rain moves in. remember too that you can zoom in REAL CLOSE and see where the rain is in relation to individual streets and even houses.

Anyway, take a peek some time - especially when the weather is "active".
It's pretty fun and interesting to see.

Ken

Glad you folks find it interesting.
Take note that if you click on any of the weather station flags, you'll bring up a popup window showing the weather stations' readings. In the upper right corner of that popup near the longitude, latitude and elevation is a link to the personal weather station itself. There you can browse the weather history for that station (usually readings every 7 minutes or so). Often this history goes back years and it's downloadable in a comma-delimited format that can easily be imported into Excel for detailed slicing and dicing. This is how I determined the specific climate averages in my neighborhood down there - even while I was sitting here in Seattle.

Wunderground.com is a VERY COOL site.

Take a look here:

Personal Weather Stations : Weather Underground

Should tell you everything you need to know to buy your system, configure it, and get up and going online.

Just made this odd screenshot of a radar map. I am no climate expert, so I don't know why those green areas look the way they do, but it looks interesting. As if there was a center where the clouds came from, like a splash

Neuling -

Yeah that's interesting the way the rainfall is spread about.
I'm guessing the weather radar is situated in the center.
