Default university area walkability

hello i am considering a move to the southwest i am well aware of the cons--the awful crime, oppressive heat...im just wondering if i was to attend the university of arizona and live near campus (where i could walk to school) would i be able to walk to some coffee shops, bars etc. at night safely? Is there an area of town near the college that has a decent amount of pedestrian traffic at all hours of the night? Basically, in the city of Tucson, is there any location that exists where I could live, walk to class, walk to a bar at midnight and walk home at 3 am and not have a really high chance of being robbed at gunpoint?

University Blvd is right next to campus and has a lot of bars and coffee shops, as well as a variety of other stores. There are always tons of people walking around. There are a couple complexes next to this area, on Euclid Avenue, where I would feel comfortable walking at night since there is so much pedestrian traffic but I can't recall the names at this time. The on campus graduate student housing, La Aldea, is in this area as well and offers furnished apartments.

There are several other rental houses and apartments within walking distance of campus, but in areas that don't have a lot of people out after dark and there's no way I would walk home at 3am. The university is not in the best area of town and there are often homeless wondering around campus. Recently the news reported a woman sexually assaulted at an on-campus dorm by someone who isn't a student. There have been a few shootings around campus over the past few months, but most of the crime seems to be stolen/vandalized cars.
