Default Living In Midtown (Northwest)

I'm moving in about two weeks time to Tucson. I'll be living in midtown, about 20mns walk from the International School Of Tucson and not far off the Uni. What is the area like? I've already done quite a few searches but I couldn't find any posts that were specifically about that part of town. Is it safe? Noisy? Is it close to good transport links? I know these kind of questions are asked all the time but I'm afraid I'll have to join in. Thanks in advance.

Depends - it's spotty. There are some very nice (and expensive) areas and some crappy pockets.

Can you be a little more specific, Skeffington?

I live in what many refer to as Northwest Midtown (close to the Tucson Mall) and it is as safe as any city location could be.

Not sure unfortunately. I'm going to hazard a guess and say it should be on or around E Elm Street. Very likely south of Mansfield Park. Is that any help? What would you say are the spotty areas and the less spotty ones?

I was looking at the map and trying to remember... I knew somebody who lived on Linden or Lester... there was a hospital on this street, but I don't recall which street exactly... The area around his house looked acceptable, if not great. However, once we went for a picnic in a park West of his house. It must be the one you're talking about. Didn't particularly care for the feel of it...

Damn it, SierraAZ, I think that's probably the place. Oh well, I have signed on the dotted line already, so... as they say around here, in for a penny, in for a pound. At least I know what to expect. Would welcome other people's feedback if they have any.

Not certain, Skeffington . . . however, I have a feeling you can easily do better.

I believe Mansfield Park is South of Grant Road and East of Oracle Road. Possibly not the worst area in town but . . .

Yeah, it's quite iffy around the park, but where he's gonna live might not be that bad...
