Baltimore is at 33 through March 11th... and that's a reduction from last year.

I have some wicked bad allergies/sinuses myself - if it has leaves, pollen or dander, I'm allergic to it. My allergies haven't been bad since moving here - well, until the past couple weeks. Apparently tree pollen's kinda high right now.
My sinuses are another story. It's dry. Very dry. Duh, it's the desert. Dryness seems to irritate my sinuses to no end. I won't go into the gory details, but saline nasal spray twice a day seems to help A LOT!!

I hate to bring this up, but wasn't the expectation that crime would go DOWN after Arizona's new illegal immigration employer law went into effect and the illegal immigrants mostly left?
Can it be that illegals are NOT the major source of crime in Tucson - or did the law just force the generally law-abiding ones to leave, while the hard-core criminal types just stayed anyway (since their "job" is crime and so they have no real employers at risk to loose their license)?

Not all crime due to illegal immigrants.
As I said in a previous post, Cops and corruption in a 'good ol boy' state are more of a problem for me...

Yep, confirms Tucson is catching up to a city with the worst
murder rate in the country.

Before I moved to Tucson, I read this message board, and tried to decode it. I had a great opportunity waiting if I could stand to live here. I can't believe I was almost dissuaded from coming based on completely unrepresentative anecdotes. Yes, my brother-in-law was mugged. However, he was mugged in one of the most wealthy neighborhoods of Chicago. He liked Tucson, and felt safe. For those trying to understand these posts, take a step back. They can't tell you what to do. This thread's standard of comparing murder rates and trees per yard are apples and oranges. This is an unrepresentative skewed sample.
I could write 12 pages of specific responses to Tucson, but consider the fact that some people don't want the city to grow, while others are selling their homes and hope for a profit. Some have just had their cars stolen, others sell cars. Some dislike people different than them, others don't like losing their jobs because its easier for employers not to pay payroll taxes. Some people hate summer here, others think it's the great miracle preventing AZ from becoming LA. Other people realize that while they didn't like snow, they did like colorful falls. People like different things, and I would hate to live in a world where it was otherwise.
People may read these posts due to a passive random Google, but people are more likely to post for active reasons: they're happy, they're sad; their car was stolen, it's 70 in February; they're drunk and mad; they're drunk and happy. If you wouldn't be friends with a person in real life, it wouldn't make sense to take their advice on the internet. Sadly, you don't know. Someone may be in a mental institution, or they could be John Q. Public. Details always matter, and I believe the average Tucsonan is far less passionate about Tucson (for good or bad) than someone who bothers to post here. It's perfectly fine in Tucson, but it's not perfect.
Most likely, you will not be shot if you move here. Certainly, the news will report murders that happen. It is more likely than not you will be uncomfortably hot at some point. Still, even the Ohio Valley shuts down from snow in the winter, and they're not so far north. I have more money than some of you, less than others.
This is far more an issue of personal experience and personal preference than the average of groupthink. If you just got a great job here, you can make it work. If you're just thinking about moving out here, come visit. If you're looking for Eden, join the club.

Dr. Chim--Good reminders. Welcome to the forums.
I would hope anyone reading these forums for info, would understand they are people's opinions, and not necessarily actual, or factual statistics.

I only thought of two reasons to not move to Tucson:
1) That guy named Bummer
2) The other guy named Magnum Mike, even though he lives in Phoenix..
Both of those guys fit in the "Strange" category!
