It'll be my boyfriend & I moving with a U-Haul. This'll be my 3rd out of state move, I'm an expert haha. I would never hire a moving company, I've heard too many horror stories about them

I think your assertion that ALL Tucsonans drive 10 MPH under the speed limit is a wild overexaggeration.

Actually, it is not a wild overexaggeration, just a simple observation...Also take into account that most of the lights are not timed, so you end up stopping 3 or 4 times in a mile anyway. Add the 4 lane traffic stop for a crosswalk 100ft from the intersection and you have created very heavy traffic in a reasonably small town...

Try hopping on the 101, the 202, the 51, the 60, or the 10 at 3PM on a weekday as see how fast you'll be driving.

I can see that you haven't lived in Phoenix very long. When you hit congestion, you exit and use surface streets until you pass the congestion. Then reenter the freeway once you are past it. Also, at least in Phoenix, people have an decent understanding of Rechtsfahrgebot, unlike in Tucson .

Please, Mill Ave. is far better than the cliquey 4th Ave. 4th Ave. is so elitist, you won't find any great people to hang out with there, men or women. I HAVE gone out to most of the bars and clubs on Mill Ave. and met AT LEAST 20 great, fun, people every time, easily. There really is no comparison. Furthermore, I can also hit clubs, restaurants, and bars in Scottsdale, the rest of Tempe, Chandler, etc...

I am confident that it is not me as I never had any trouble meeting attractive women in Phoenix.

As I have said before, I will go back to Phoenix as soon as I find a job up there. I consider moving to Tucson one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Everyone I knew that came from Tucson warned me that there was nothing down here and that it was pretty much a retirement community, but I didn't listen.

Man there are so many Tucson-haters on these boards!
Maybe if you guys spend less time on the forums and more time out and about your outlook would improve?
I, for one, love the half-sleepy atmosphere of Tucson and the surrounding communities. Definitely not a NY, LA, or Phoenix, but that's why I love it!

I think they are trying to persuade folks not to come to AZ!

Well said! I agree completely. That is one of the reasons we will be moving there.

Me too, Michael. That nails the essence of it, and the fact that the mountains are so much closer than in Phoenix. I also agree with Roadrunner, who said:

And in a strictly selfish way, I'm kind of glad when people show photos of the unappealing parts of town, because anybody who wanted to see nice photos of the place could visit the popular photo sharing sites and find a zillion pics to get a better feel of the place.
Better to say it sucks and keep the influx down.

LOL, and this is a surprise considering the title to this thread?
Low to mid 90's starting Sunday. Extended forecast: hot through October. Good luck!

The real truth about the weather here? See this:
Moderator cut: link to a competitors site removed
Average temps in April: High 81, Low 51, with an average humidity at 5 p.m. of only 16%.
Yeah, that's really horrible weather. Good point.
I live in Florida (until next month when I move back to Tucson), and give me 100 and low humidity over 90 and high humidity (66-68% avg at 4 p.m.) every time. It's not even close which is more comfortable.
The only two months that are sort of uncomfortable are July and August, when the average afternoon humidity soars to 29 and 32 percent respectively. Really, you're looking at 9 months of great weather, and the 3 worst months, I still take over a cold winter, or the humidity of many areas of the country. To each his own, though.
